DINGENS BAROMETERS & CLOCKS was founded in 1965. We are a young and dynamic company that for many decades has specialised in the production of top-class weather instruments. Over the years Dingens has set the industry benchmark through our continuous commitment to development and innovation.
Half a century of experience serves as a foundation for the production of these unique instruments.
These high-quality products are developed in, manufactured in and exported from Belgium in collaboration with our reliable partners. Dingens has a network of distributors in many European countries. With our own distribution centre in Kunming (China) and Boston (USA) we are able to serve our customers worldwide.

Innovation in tradition

The invention of the mercury barometer at the beginning of the 17th century led to a scientific, political and even religious revolution. Because of this new knowledge, centuries-old dogmas were shattered. A sound knowledge of the changes in the weather was of great economic and military importance for the seafaring nations from old central Europe. To affluent citizens, the possession of an attractive barometer meant a way of showcasing their status and demonstrating their interest in science.

For four centuries the mercury barometer was the ultimate standard for the most accurate measurements of the pressure of the air. Sadly, mercury – if not treated with great care – can end up in the environment and cause a lot of damage to nature.

In 2009 Dingens Barometers & Clocks launched an innovative barometer without mercury: the Innovacelli, which was developed in collaboration with the Innovatiecentrum Limburg, IWT and Hasselt University. This barometer is more fitting for our times of ecological awareness, and it is accurate and durable.

The mercury has been replaced by metal boxes that react to the changing pressure of the air. The movements of the boxes are transferred to a liquid in a glass tube, which gives a very accurate reading of the pressure of the air.

The Innovacelli Barometer does not merely offer an accurate measurement of the atmospheric pressure. Because it is so accurate, the principle of this barometer can also be used for various applications in medical science, labs and industry. We can offer you customised solutions for various levels of air pressure measurements and scale sizes.
