Van Praet (°1937), architect and icon of the Belgian design, uses this
barometer to convey his vision on the use of natural resources. Just
like the boomerang, the barometer is an environmentally friendly and
durable object, without energy consumption.It uses the simple laws of nature to serve man. Both products are also part of a cultural-historical heritage. Frans Van Praet recycles ground elastic bands for the finish on his barometers. This leads to a new and very usable and resistant finish to the object. This barometer is for sale in China as a limited edition of 100 pieces. The organisation Design Vlaanderen has put forward a school of designers who, in the footsteps of Frans Van Praet, develop pioneering products worldwide and with success. |
